Union Station Homeless Services

Our group purchases, prepares and serves meals to the 50 residents of the Union Station Homeless Services, Family Center, on the 4th Tuesday of every month. Our fundraising efforts over the years have included craft fairs, lemonade stands and bake sales. We have raised over $6,000 to purchase needed supplies in the kitchen.
The Center houses more than 150 homeless families each year with an average length of stay of three months. It is one of the only family shelters in Los Angeles County that accepts single fathers with children. Families meet with a case manager weekly to address the issues that led to their homelessness. Last year, 85% of families exiting our program moved on to stable housing.
For this project, in addition to needed help in the kitchen for our monthly events, we are also accepting monetary donations to purchase and install a professional garbage disposal for the kitchen. We are working towards a non-profit status for your charitable tax donation.

Orphanage for HIV+ Children
Belgaum, Karnataka, India
Dhilan Anvekar is currently working towards implementing a sports library with equipment in an orphanage for HIV+ children in summer 2018.
Located in his family's hometown in Belgaum, India, this orphanage is a special place who houses the most at-risk children in India--those who have been abandoned by their families and/or society because they were born with HIV.
Dhilan feels that their childhoods should be enriched with playtime in addition to education, medical care and nutrition.
